Wakulima USA is a community-driven organization dedicated to providing farmers with access to farmland, technical support, and connections to local markets strengthening food sovereignty and creating economic opportunities for low-income immigrants and people of color in the Puget Sound region.
“Wakulima” means “Farmers” in Kiswahili, the most widely spoken language in East and Central Africa. Our organization empowers individuals to combine their traditional foodways with modern farming techniques and food innovation strategies to build successful businesses centered on healthy, sustainable, local farming and food production.
We also support community wellness through culturally relevant mental health and care coordination services. By helping individuals navigate essential resources and access trusted providers, we promote holistic well-being and strengthen the resilience of the communities we serve.
Our vision is to cultivate thriving, self-sustaining communities where immigrants and people of color have equitable access to land, economic opportunity, and culturally grounded wellness. We envision a future where traditional foodways, modern farming practices, and holistic support systems come together to strengthen food sovereignty, promote mental well-being, and empower families to grow, prosper, and lead.
Here at Wakulima we are a team passionate about you! We offer many years of experience in farming and business and aim to help others be successful as well. We also dedicate to serving our most vulnerable population and provide resources and programs to assist their needs.
